The court ordered the former mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Mohammad Atiqul Islam to be sent to jail. He was arrested in 3 murder cases of Mohammadpur police station in the capital and taken to court.
His lawyers applied for bail in Dhaka's CMM court on Thursday (October 17) morning. After hearing both sides, Judge Ali Haider rejected the application and ordered to send him to jail.
Meanwhile, former Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzak, former Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder, former Land Minister Narayan Chandra Chand, former Home Secretary Jahangir Alam, in the same court in the murder case of various police stations.Former Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Lt. Col. (Retd.) Farooq Khan and Dhaka University Chhatra League General Secretary Tanveer Hasan Saikat have been arrested and ordered to be sent to jail.
Earlier, Mohammadpur police station arrested former mayor Atiqul Islam from Mohakhali DOHS area of the capital on Wednesday.
